To survive in a ruined world, she must embrace the darkness
Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a walled-in city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them—the vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself dies and becomes one of the monsters.
Forced to flee her city, Allie must pass for human as she joins a ragged group of pilgrims seeking a legend — a place that might have a cure for the disease that killed off most of civilization and created the rabids, the bloodthirsty creatures who threaten human and vampire alike. And soon Allie will have to decide what and who is worth dying for again.
Enter Julie Kagawa’s dark and twisted world as an unforgettable journey begins.
My Review:
To start with… Julie Kagawa is an awesome author. When I saw that there is Bulgarian publisher, that published this exact book I knew that I must read it. And I’ve got it the first time I saw it.
I’m fond of books about vampires, so I was tempted to read this one book, even though the synopsis showed me that this is going to be some very different story than the other books about vampires.
I liked that it’s separated into defferent parts and showed Allie’s life in different perspectives – a human, new-born vampire – alone and with the new found group of people, looking for Eden, and of course – nomad.
Julie Kagawa draws a world, in which you can lost yourself while reading, imagine different places and a whole different world – possible world, if the people continue to live such live with this pollution of nature. Anyhow, very interesting book, good story and absolutely must read for all vampire books’ lovers.
General note: 9.5/10
