For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself–and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
My Review:
I wanted to read this book ever since I read its plot in my monthly letter from a Bulgarian publisher. They had been decided to publish it in Bulgarian and was sure that I’m going to buy it. Well, I didn’t bought it, but I found it in the city library, so I took it.
It’s an easy-going, enjoyable book. This is for sure. The story is interesting, good written and entertaining. I’m really used to such kind of books, so I finished it for a short time.
The story itself is not something very original, as there is tons of movies and tons of books with similar plot, but is contemporary and mostly written for young readers.
I recommend this book to readers between 10 – 18 years and to hopelessly romantic people.
General note: 6/10
