I love this book!!!

Originally, this book is retelling of the famous movie “Labyrinth” with our long-loved Mr. Bowie. It seems that lots of people had watch it, but I’m not, so this book was fresh for me, with no expectations and I must say that I liked it a lot!

goblin-kingI wanted this book not only because the synopsis caught my interest, but also because this beautiful cover. Look at it. Isn’t it perfect? I do love roses, as it can be seen and I had to have it.

At first it was not really my book. I’m always saying it that I’m not native English speaker and some books are challenge for me and “Wintersong” is one of them. Of course, this absolutely didn’t stopped it becoming one of my favorite books of all time. It was just so good for me.

I liked the story. I usually don’t find books, which setting is underground and with goblins. This was rare for me and I wanted to explore this kind of world. It was interesting to see the story through Liesl’s point of view and I appreciated it. She was brave enough to go and save her sister from The Goblin King. This was the first part of the story, but I do really and mostly liked the second part.

Royal_Grand_Piano_PNG_Clipart-895Elisabeth (Liesl) is strong main character from the outside, but also very sensitive. I liked her a lot and strongly identified with her – her story, her emotions, her thoughts. She knows that she’s not beautiful and her family don’t know how to act with her, because they usually don’t notice her as a person, but some kind of a housemaid. And going Underground, becoming The Goblin King’s wife, she really started to grow and understand. But also being questioned about her usefulness whole her life, she can’t easily start to believe in herself.

The other main character – The Goblin King was absolutely awesome. For me he is the so-loved villain. Everything about him caught my attention. Yes, he is the Lord of Mischief, the Ruler Underground, but he also is a “young” man with own feelings and own story and I really want to know more about him. He topped my list of favorite male fictional characters. For sure.

What I liked the most about the book was the fact that there is music included. I strongly love classical music and I have huge interest of not only musicians, but also about suites, sonatas and everything music related. The fact that huge part of music terminology is included in the book made me like it even more. While reading, I imagined myself being there and listening along. Elisabeth and Goblin King would be an interesting couple to listen.

As I wrote, I fell in love with this book and with the characters. I can’t wait for the next book, which is coming next year, with the interesting title “Shadowsong”. I intentionally do recommend you to read “Wintersong”, guys! Especially music lovers!
